Logan County Municipal Court Traffic Cases

The Logan County Municipal Court is the primary court for traffic violations in the county. It is at 101 South Main Street in Bellefontaine. The court handles misdemeanor traffic offenses and civil infractions from all of Logan County. Speeding tickets, OVI charges, reckless operation, and driving under suspension all come through here.

After getting a traffic ticket, you can pay the fine, enter a not guilty plea and request a trial, or attend a pre-trial conference. Pre-trial hearings let you talk with the prosecutor before the case moves forward. The court records every step. After a conviction or bail forfeiture, an abstract goes to the Ohio BMV within seven days as required by Section 4510.03 of the Revised Code. That abstract lists your name, license number, the offense, the date, and the fine.

Payments for fines and court costs can be made at the Clerk's window. Ask about payment plans if you need one.

The City of Bellefontaine runs a Mayor's Court that handles minor traffic tickets inside city limits. These are lower-level offenses like speeding and equipment violations. You can transfer your case to the Logan County Municipal Court if you choose.

Mayor's Court records stay with the city clerk. The county Clerk of Courts does not have them. Call Bellefontaine City Hall to get records or pay fines from a Mayor's Court traffic case. All Mayor's Courts must still send conviction abstracts to the BMV under state law.
